THE MOST EXTREME FASHION STATEMENTS

We'll kill two bird with one stone on this one. Rihanna was supposedly able to see through these glasses. It's a bit impressive, especially because when she wore them it was usually at night. And then there's the earrings.

Lady Gaga's creepy shoes looked like they came out of Beetlejuice. They looked rather uncomfortable and we wonder if she was gaining a bad case of bunion while wearing them, just like Victoria Beckham did this past month.

If Sarah Jessica Parker wanted to gain attention by wearing a garden on her head, then she succeeded. Although the actress's character, Carrie Bradshaw, has a unique style in Sex and the City, it doesn't mean she should take it seriously in real life.

Katy Perry had fun looking like she walked out of Las Vegas, and the dress was definitely a change for her style since it wasn't the usual bananas, cherries, or pink cupcakes. We know this dress is unique and extreme, but as for being creative? We'll pass.

Kelly Osbourne is usually left alone for her unique style and creative taste, and we respect that. She's obviously aware that smokey eyes and pink lipstick are in right now, but she went a bit overboard. We're still trying to find where her eyes and lips are.

How much lace is too much lace? Just check out Courtney Love's concoction, topped, of course, with funky shoes. Let us know if you figure out how many pieces it took to create this look.

Amy Winehouse rocked her beehive 'do and we all praised her for it. She somehow became just as famous for her overly teased nest on top of her head, which became so popular that it was later seen on the runway.

Some things that debut on the runway are meant to stay on the runway. This dress would look better with half the fabric, and maybe some shape to it. We respect your style, MIA, but just because it's unique doesn't mean you can break all the rules with it.

Perhaps one of the most seen trends of the season, wearing all types of ears. Whether the Olson twins started this one or not, we're not sure, but the ears are being sported in all sorts events and circumstances this season.

The Best Nail
Colors
of the Season

Glitter

Glitter is making it's big debut right now in nail polish, with OPI coming out with more colors mixed with glitter than ever. Kim Kardashian has even been seen wearing OPI's "My Private Jet," which is a great alternative to dark polish, with a rainbow look of color in it. Other faves include "Ink" (a cobalt blue/purple) and the special edition of "Mad as a Hatter" (blue glitter).

Neons

Nail polish is most noticeable when it's loud and stands out with an outfit. Try wearing an outfit that compliments the nail polish, but doesn't look obnoxious. Look for neons in blues, purples, pinks and oranges. Avoid yellows, greens, or even white. The 80s are currently celebrated in the fashion industry, and this includes nail polish, so play it up!

Purples

Kelly Ripa, Lauren Conrad, and other celebs sported dark, deep purple nail polish all last season, a color that looked great with any type of outfit and was it's own accessory. It was spotted on the runway, the red carpet, and out in public. Now it's time for a new type of purple, one brighter as Spring nears. Wear bright purples that look mature and sophisticated and have fun with exploring the different shades.

Greys

In October, Hilary Swank appeared on Oprah with grey nail polish, even though Oprah didn't care for the color. Hilary Swank accurately predicted the trend with dark and light greys now in style. There are plenty of shades to choose from, and all will work. Try finding greys that are distinct from the staple black that everyone wore last season. Show that there's a fresh, new color that your nails are strutting.

Turquoise

Turquoise is great for any skin color and is now a new trend, even if it is a little early for Summer. Try calming down the color by wearing greys, blacks, and whites with it. Opt out of yellows or other bright colors (so it's not too overwhelming) and play it off with chunky rings, watches, and bracelets.

A few other pointers: Always keep your nails the same length (preferably on the shorter end) and never match loud colors on both your feet and your hands. Try for basic colors on your toes (dark purples, blacks, or pastels) and the unique ones for your hands. And yes, stick with complimentary colors.
