The Best Hair Styles for Every Face Shape

>>Round Face

You're face is round if it's as long as it is wide. If you have a round face, you're goal should be to elongate it as much as possible by adding volume and layers to your hair. Try bangs that are feathered, or side-swept, which will soften your face shape and make it appear more elongated. Going for gentle waves is also another style that works well.

>>Heart Face

Heart shaped faces have narrow chins and wider cheekbones. Go for curly and soft hairstyles, ones that cut right at the chin and give off the appearance of everything being symmetrical. Never slick your hair back for this look--don't do anything that overemphasizes the upper portion of your face. If your really want to go for the bangs, wispy ones will do the trick to make your face shape look flattering.

>>Oval Face

A rounded hairline with a narrower jaw line than the temples. Consider yourself blessed if you were born with an oval face. You're one of the only face shapes that can wear almost any hairstyle and still look great. Avoid heavy bangs, which can hide your face and make it appear smaller. Your best option to having bangs is to opt for blunt ones.

>>Square Face

A square jaw line and hairline. Those with square face shapes have a little more freedom with hairstyles. They can go for longer lengths with sided parts and layers or waves. Avoid bobs and parting your hair down the middle, but opt for bangs that are side-swept and sexy.

>>Oblong Face

Your face is longer than it is wide, with a rounded hairline and jaw line. Go for longer hairstyles that add height and width at the temples and cheekbones. Make sure there's volume around the neck and play with wispy bangs if your forehead is high. Don't get short hair, and avoid parting your hair in the middle. If you opt for long hair, make sure it has some layers to soften your face shape.

>>Diamond Face

A mix between oval and heart shape, with the cheekbones the widest. Bobs look good on a few people, and those with a diamond face look great with short, edgy styles. Those with diamond face shapes should always have some sort of bangs that shorten their foreheads and round their face more. You're also one of the few who can part their hair down the middle and still look great.

>>Triangular Shape

This one has a strong jaw line and narrow cheekbones. Shorter hairstyles work best for those with a triangular face shape. Most people with triangular shapes have prominent jaw lines, so layers at a short length will compliment your face the best. Avoid longer hairstyles, which will only add width to your jaw line.

2010 is all about bright colors. Nothing pops more than this bright RED/ORANGE shade. You can pair most colors of clothing with this shade, so don't be afraid of what to wear with it. If you're going to be dramatic, lay low with the eye shadow and blush.

Light, FROSTY PINK lips are adorable. They're one of our favorite shades and they look great with any type of outfit. Try to avoid using your bronzer when wearing this shade so the colors don't clash, and wear a small amount of blush. You don't want dramatic cheekbones taking away from this color.

DARK RED lips are dramatic and classy. It never goes out of style, which is why it made the cut for one of this season's hottest colors. Try wearing it only to elegant or special events, because it can be too dramatic for street wear or wearing out in the sun.

PINK is perhaps the hottest color right now. With plenty of shades and blends, this color has been seen on Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Lauren Conrad. Pair it with dark clothes and a matching accessory, like your clutch or shoes.

Be dramatic with some PLUM. Although it's not exactly bright, it sure is bold--and that's good enough for us. Obviously, avoid wearing white with this color, unless you're daring and can keep the color off your clothes. Otherwise, opt for all black to really make a statement.

NUDE is still in. It hung around all last year, and it's still here to stay. It's elegant, beautiful, and makes your lips look classy. You can't go wrong with nude, especially if you pair it with a light gloss.

The Truth About Hair

Long, lush locks are desired by most women in most cultures. Women are now cutting to the chase and buying their hair now. Fake hair isn't just for black people who want weaves, now anyone of another ethnicity can get it with a snap of a finger and instantly look like they've been growing their locks out for years. In Southern California, hair extensions are becoming more common and if someone has hair past their chest, it's most likely not natural.

Hair extensions come in many different forms and lengths. Natural hair is from other countries, mainly from Europe and India, and can cost anywhere from $200-$5,000, depending on if you get it done at a professional salon. The hair is treated and cleaned before it's sold and the best brands provide free color swatches. They take anywhere from four to five hours to apply and are attached to the root of the hair through different methods.

Clip-in hair is also popular, but there's a fine line on how noticable it is that it's fake. Celebrities like Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton have hair extension brands, costing anywhere from $80-$400. Clip-ins are best for special events where they're easy to take out. It's still better to look for cuticle hair, as it looks much more natural. Glued hair is cheaper method (roughly $80-$200), but falls out easier and is more damaging--only lasting for about a week.

Strand-by-strand is more popular for a professional look and are what you'll find in salons. This lasts for six months, but can cost anywhere from $600-$2,500. Weaving is more popular, a method of sewing the hair into the natural hair and lasts four to six months at $400-$1,500.

Don't go overboard. Hair isn't like makeup, you don't want people to notice that you're wearing it all of the time. Don't have your hair at a length so long that people immediately recognize that it's fake. You want people to see you instead of your hair and not be able to guess that you paid big bucks for your locks.

Fresh Hairstyles for Fall

Pixie haircuts are all the rave for the fall. Let go of your locks by going for a razored, "in your eyes" sort of look. Rhianna does it best by having a heavily layered look that makes her still look sweet, with a little edge. Make sure your face has either an oval, triangular, or pear shape so that it compliments you instead of making your face more round or square.

Side-swept bangs for men are the most popular this season. They should be layered and styled to look a little messy, but still clean-cut. Make sure the bangs don't hang in the eyes and go with a razored cut for an edgier look.

Ponytails are back and in big demand. Celebrities at the 2009 CMA awards were already sporting this style and looking fresh. Try teasing your hair before tying it back and make sure plenty of strands are loose to shape your face. Don't be afraid to have your hair in waves, but avoid curls that are too tight.

Thick bangs are definitely different and retro, especially when paired with a cute bob that cuts at the chin, or just above. Avoid layering here and go for a clean cut and bangs that cover your eyebrows. Try having a bit of an angle to the cut below your chin.

Schoolboy haircuts are sleek and sophisticated for men, adding a bit of style to any outfit and look. This look compliments any face shape and will work with hair that doesn't need to be too long. Try styling it with a gentle gel and making sure it has a bit of shine, but not too much gunk.

Waves aren't just for the summer, but they're inviting themselves over for the fall. Natural looks that are lightly styled, but not straightened or tampered with are best. Try putting a little product in your hair to take out any frizz and to hold the waves in place. Straighten the top part of your hair to take out some of the volume and kink to your curls.

Dark dyes have arrived. Dying your hair to a darker shade of brown or red is most flattering for the colder season and will give a warmer look. Try putting a few highlights in that look natural throughout the hair to compliment the layers and to make the hair look fuller.

Your Legs Need a New Home

If your jeans are so worn (and not in the $300 kind of way) that you have a baggy butt and rips that look more trashy than trendy, then it's time to get a new pair of jeans. There are plenty of styles available that are great for whatever kind of shoes you feel like wearing.

Nothing is better than skinny jeans.

4 When you put on your skinny jeans there's some sassiness that comes out that you wouldn't have with other types of jeans. They look great with boots, sandals, heels (especially heels) and they dress up any type of outfit you're going for. Try wearing them with chunky belts to balance it out with your top and go to H&M or Express for the best quality.

The 70's aren't back, but wide legged jeans are.
4 Sometime last year wide legged jeans came in style, and they're here to stay. They look great for the office, for a day out shopping, or for a night out on the town. Make sure they fit well and wear them with high heels if you have a shorter figure to make your legs look longer.

Now you can say you didn't steal your boyfriend's jeans.

4 Boyfriend jeans are the latest style to hit Hollywood. Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner have been spotted wearing them with casual T's and old shoes. Leave the high heels at home and allow yourself to be comfortable. Look for ones that are more worn or are rolled up. Try not to look too homely in these by adding jewelry and wearing your hair down to add some femininity. (And say no when your boyfriend asks to borrow them.)

They're better than mom jeans--they're high-waisted jeans.

4 Although Jessica Simpson didn't rock these jeans the best, they've worked well on other celebrities. If you've been disciplined on doing your crunches and have the confidence to wear this style, then go with the high-waisted jeans. They're great with pumps and dress up any type of shirt.

Khaki is back, just not how you're used to seeing them.

4 Although jeans come in different colors, and even patterns at times, jeans in a khaki color are all the rave with men. They're great for going out on a date and wanting to look casual, but are still dressy. This color goes great with almost anything and works great with sandals or boots.

Only your jeans should be washed out.

4 Worn, torn, and adorned. Washed out jeans still look great and give off the feel that you don't care that much about what you wear. Although they're not ideal when going out at night or anything fancy, they still add texture and personality to the jeans you're wearing. They're not too over-the-top like Ed Hardy jeans, yet not boring like a pair of boot cut blue jean.

It doesn't have to be a rainy day for your jeans to be rolled up.

4 Although you can buy jeans that are pre-rolled, this is obviously simple and easy for any pair of jeans you already have. It won't work so well on baggier jeans, more like boot cut, but it adds a lot to any pair you're wearing. Try doing this on a pair that has a darker dye so the roll stands out on the jeans.
